For the second time in two years, Xtreme has earned the highest honor in the Lift & Access Leadership in Lifting Equipment & Aerial Platforms (LLEAP) awards in the Features and Components category.
The 2022 entry that won the award is the Personnel Basket Attachment. First shown at the 2021 World of Concrete, Xtreme Manufacturing’s patent-pending Personnel Basket Attachment for telehandlers is designed to assist in picking and placing loads at height. The basket is attached via a pin welded to the carriage of the telehandler and then secured with a quick-release pin, making it easy to attach and remove with no tools required.
The basket holds one person weighing up to 300 lbs while raising them with or without a load, and the one-way swing gate keeps the operator safe from falls. Once in the basket, the operator is in charge of boom extension through the wireless boom controls, or the telehandler’s main controls may be operated by a second person. Useful for fragile or delicate loads, the basket allows an operator to ride along with the load to keep it steady and balanced, or simply to utilize loaded materials once raised to the working location. Some applications that would benefit from the basket are glass placement, awkwardly shaped items, or loads that can’t be suspended for lifting. Additionally, the operator basket allows the telehandler to perform double duty as a boom lift, or in lieu of a scissor lift when a working platform is not needed.
The LLEAP awards were combined for 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19, and Xtreme’s winning entry for that period was the Coordinated Motion feature.
